Pip Homework Helper · Beta
Privacy
Pip is a free beta from Kumquat Apps, a small veteran-owned company in Texas. We built it for kids and their grown-ups, so we keep data to the minimum it needs to work.
What we use
- Homework photos and typed problems. They're sent to our server and to Anthropic (the company that makes the Claude AI) only to read the problem and write the lesson. We don't save them after the lesson is made.
- Phone-to-computer photos. A photo sent from a phone waits on our server until the computer picks it up, then it's deleted. Anything not picked up is deleted after 15 minutes.
- A random device code. Your browser keeps a random code so we can give each device its free problems per day. It isn't linked to a name or account.
- Kid profiles, grades and stars stay on your device. They're never sent to us.
- Anonymous usage counts. We count things like how many lessons were started and finished each day, so we can see what helps and what to fix. We only keep the daily totals. To count each device once a day we use a scrambled version of the device code, and we delete it the next day.
- Parent feedback you choose to send (and your email, only if you type it in).
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-up during the beta.
- No ads, no tracking cookies, and no selling or sharing of data for marketing.
Tips for grown-ups
- Try to keep names and faces out of homework photos.
- Clearing your browser's site data removes the profiles, stars and device code from your device.
The pages load fonts from Google Fonts. This notice is a beta draft and will be updated before Pip launches.
